DELIVERY THE NEW ALPHABET

Melbourne-based quintet Delivery have returned with their latest cut, ‘The New Alphabet’. It’s another scuzzy garage punk track defined by a loose, crunchy guitar accompaniment that sits beneath effortlessly melodic, uniquely delivered vocal lines. There’s something warm and fun about the band’s sound, with the plodding straight bass and drums allowing for a memorable transition into the track’s more anthemic, cinematic moments. They describe the track as “a spiritual twin to ‘The Complex’ from our first album; both tracks come in at number six on the record, are built around wonky guitars over a slightly loosened groove, and both share a similar lyrical concept that I sometimes revert back to for Delivery. Which is, taking on the perspective of a character who thinks they’re topshit, when it’s glaringly obvious that they’re not.” The band are releasing their new album, Force Majeure on January 17th, 2025, via Heavenly. -Dan Peeke
